You desire to live a godly life while here on earth. You have tried so many things to no avail. You go to church regularly. When a problem arises, you go to the Lord in prayer. You try to live godly, and yet wonder why life brings so many trials and hardships in your life.
There is a little poem, written by an anonymous person. It sheds some light on a solution for your situation: “Sure, it takes a lot of courage to put thing in God’s hands – To give ourselves completely, our lives, our hopes, our plans. To follow where He leads us, and make His will our own – But all it takes is foolishness, to go the way alone!” Yes, when you try to live the Christian life, with a little here and a little there, life is difficult. God wants to be first in your life. That means everything you think about, and everything you do, is done in light of God’s direction.
Tucked away in Proverbs is a verse that gives great insight into allowing the Lord to be first in your life. It is a very popular verse. Therein lies a problem. It is so familiar that its application to your life loses it punch. If you live this verse moment-by-moment daily, you will live the Christian life to its fullest. It says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (3:5-6). Notice the use of the inclusive word “all” in those verses. The verse applies only when you put the “all” mentioned there into your life. It says “all your heart” and “all your ways.”
Godly living really is not that complex. The difficult part of Godly living is putting it into practice. Just ask Jesus to help you put your full trust in Him in every situation in your life. Then make an effort to do it!
