Living Without Sin

At first glance at that title, you probably think that I am talking nonsense.  After all, you are born in the flesh and you will die in the flesh.  David in the Psalms reminds you that you were born in sin.  Scripture tells you throughout that you are a sinner, so how can you live without sin?

You are born a sinner, and your life is a testimony that sin dwells in your body.  You, I, and all of humanity that has ever lived on earth or that ever will be born on earth is a sinner.  Then you may ask, how can I live without sin in my life?  That famous revivalist, Dwight L. Moody, gives some wonderful advice in telling you how you can live without sin: “You might as well try to hear without ears, or breathe without lungs, as you try to live a Christian life without the Spirit of God in your heart.”  That is the answer.  As long as you live your life by your wants and desires, you live in the flesh, without living by the Spirit of God.  Living your Christian life, by obeying the Spirit of God, allows you to have victory over the flesh and sin in your life.

You may say that is all well and good thinking, but that it is impossible to live that way.  Galatians 5:16-16 tells you how to live victoriously in the Spirit of God (how to live without sin in your life): “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh, for the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you cannot do the things that you please.”  Thus, by living by the Spirit, you will not obey the flesh.  This is living without sin.

Living without sin in your life is not some man-made dream world myth.  It is not doing as you please.  God’s Word says you can live without sin.  Live without sin in your life by obeying the Spirit’s leading!
