You grow in your relationship with Christ. At salvation, you come into a relationship with the Lord God. Then, as time passes, you come to love and adore Him more and more. Your whole mindset changes, from no commitment to Christ, to Him being everything to you.
The source of your relationship with Christ comes from a steady intake of the Word of God. It is those words in the Holy Bible that enlightens you to have a closer walk with Jesus. The Bible plays a major role in your growth in Christ. A man who loved old books met an acquittance who had just thrown away a Bible that had been stored in the attic in his ancestral home for generations. “I couldn’t read it,” the friend explained. “Somebody named Guten-something had printed it.” “Not Gutenberg!” The book lover exclaimed in horror. That Bible was one of the very first books ever printed. Why, a copy just sold for two million dollars!” His friend was unimpressed. Mine wouldn’t have brought a dollar. Some fellow named Martin Luther scribbled all over it in German.” Ha! Ha! That Bible was priceless!
In discussing the value of Christ in your life, the Scriptures say it this way: “More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order than I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8). Christ is preeminent to you! Stop! Re-read that last sentence, and let it sink deep within you.
The value of Christ is what? Just like that Gutenberg Bible, your relationship with Jesus Christ is priceless! Go and live your life accordingly! Today, is a great day to begin doing so!
