Depending upon who you ask, you will get different answers in regards to how to fully live on earth. Some will tell you that money is the answer. If you just have enough money, then life is fabulous. They will tell you that the more money you have, the more fully you will enjoy life. The problem is, how much is enough? No matter how much money you have, you always seem to need more. Others tell you that fully living occurs with occupational status, or fancy cars, a big house, among many other things.
For Christians, though, living fully occurs when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. A Sunday School teacher asked a class what the word “repentance” means. A little boy put up his hand and said, “It is being sorry for your sins.” A little girl also raised her hand and said, “It is being sorry enough to quit.” To fully live requires more than just being sorry for sins you have done. To fully live means that you have to be sorry, but also, stop doing those sins.
How are you to stop sinning? A scribe asked Jesus what is the greatest commandment of them all. In Jesus’ response to that question, he includes these words: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength (Mark 12:30). To fully live means to find sins in your life, and then, to stop doing them. This is done by following the Lord God with your entire being. Notice, this verse says you are to love God with all your emotions, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
You want desperately to fully live your life on earth. There is one and only way to do that. That way is to live your life in full obedience to Christ’s answer to the scribe’s question of the greatest commandment. Do so today!
