The Road To Spiritual Success

From the time you first accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have wanted to be the best Christian you could be.  You want to please Him in all that you do.  Your deepest yearnings are to live a life that pleases Christ.

This leads to a question – how do you make that happen in your life?  Is it spending quality time in prayer, Bible study, attending church services, or exactly what is it?  All of those things are important to being faithful to the Lord.  You recognize that you do those things now and then, but not consistently.  You just cannot stay focused to be faithful in being consistent in those disciplines.

To get some help with the discipline needed, you need a change in your thinking.  A businessman judges an applicant for jobs on these traits: 5% on availability, 5% on adaptability, 5% on ability, and 85% on attitude.  Yes, attitude makes all the difference in the world. Having the right attitude determines how effective you will be in all of life’s daily challenges.

The apostle Paul had many, many challenges in his life.  He was ship-wrecked, spent a day and night in the water, was persecuted by unbelievers, as well as Christians, among other things.  He learned that to continue in his service to the Lord, that he had to stay focused.  Philippians 3:12 gives his secret: “Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.”  He admits that he has not arrived, where he wants to be.  He just presses on to be faithful to service the Lord.

The road to spiritual success is the road of having the right attitude; keep pressing on for Christ.  That road leads to heavenly rewards!
