I Can Count On You

When you were a child, certain other children wanted you on their team, because they knew you were good at what they were playing.  As the game progressed, and they needed some help, they knew they could count on you to do what was needed.

As you grew older, you made friends and those friends soon learned you could be depended upon to be a good friend, when possibly all others departed.  That good friendship happened, because they knew you would give them words of encouragement and that necessary hug of affirmation. They knew that you would be there for them no matter what.

F. B. Meyer was a preacher and author of the last century. He is one you can depend upon for a good explanation of a Bible passage in one of his commentaries.  His keen insights and clear explanations yield huge dividends in your Bible study.  F. B. Meyer signed many of his letters, “Yours to count on.”  Wow!  Now, that is someone who lives his Christianity.  Can you sign correspondence that way?

Of all the ways that you could possibly have the words, “I can count on you,” said about you, wouldn’t it be great to have that said by your Christian friends.  A verse in the Holy Bible that will allow that to be done is 1 Thessalonians 5:24, “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”  Jesus brought you into the kingdom of God.  Yes, you are saved by grace and through faith, but all the grace and faith originated from Jesus.  Salvation is 100% a work of God.  After you are saved, Jesus works in and through you to bring about His will in your life.

Just as you can count on Jesus in every decision of life, let others say of you: “I can count on you!”
