Need A Little Help?

Think back in your life, when you needed a little help.  You may not remember it, but your toddler years were full of you getting help.  No matter if it was with walking, with learning to speak, and even learning to eat, they all required a little help from others

Fast forward to today.  You are in constant need of help right now.  When you are sick you need the help of a medical practitioner, when you are lonely you need the help of a mate or friend, just to name a few.

Yes, you are in need of help in your day-to-day living, but you may think that you do not receive help often times when you need it.  William Arthur Ward gives some wise counsel regarding this: “If you would be interesting, be interested; if you would be pleased, be pleasing: if you would be loved, be loveable; if you would be helped, be helpful.”  He makes a good point; if you want help from others, then you need to help others

To receive help from other people, you do need to help them.  Such living makes you the recipient of human help.  With God, this is not true.  Notice, the words of King David in Psalm 33:20, “Our soul waits for the Lord, He is our help and our shield.”  Yes, the Lord God, “He is our help.”  The Lord dispenses help to you, just for the asking.  The only thing you have to do is agree with David – “our soul waits for the Lord.”  God knows exactly what help you need, and exactly when you need that help.  It is then, that He dispenses it.

Notice when you need help.  That is the first step to realizing you do indeed need help.  Next, ask God for help.  The result is that the Lord will give you the help you need at exact the right time!
