A 2022 Perspective

Here you are at the beginning of a new year.  That old year is gone; and you may say, “Good riddance.”  On the other hand, you may look at the past year as a time of great achievements.  The fact is you are in a new year.

This may be a time to just relax and let whatever may happen occur in your life.  You see no reason to make goals for this new year.  Your reason for this may be that you know you will not keep them, so why bother to make them at all.

Even though you will not be able to keep the goals you make for the new year, making goals gives you a direction to shoot for in this new year.  Making New Year’s goals gives you something to shoot for this year.  If you do not 100% keep the goals, and fall short of performing the goals you made, at least you progressed to make some gains.  By making goals, if you improve some in an area, then you are better off than not making the goal with no improvement.

One goal you should have is to become more like Jesus Christ this year.  Make 2022 the year that you make significant progress in your spiritual life.  At the end of each year a pastor asked his congregation, “Beloved, as we come to the end of another year, have we become more like Jesus Christ?”

Scripture exhorts you to be more like Christ.  In encouraging you to be more like Jesus, it says, “I have been crucified with Christ, and it no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave up Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).  Thus, you should live your life to please Jesus, not yourself.  This is done by putting your faith in the Lord daily to please Him, not yourself.

Let your 2022 perspective be to become more like Christ this year.  Start today!
