How To Be Successful

You have some interests, and you focus on doing those things that you like.  Whatever you like to do, is what you spend most of your time doing.  The fact that it brings you enjoyment, motivates you to focus on that area of your life.

Just because you like to do something, does not mean that it should occupy a lot of your time.  “Faced with a challenging new project at work, I sought our manager’s advice on how to succeed.  After we had gone over his suggestions, I asked him to tell me his formula for success.  ‘What I do, I do very well,’ he answered with a smile.‘  And what I don’t do well, I don’t do at all’” (Sally Baucus Boydstun).  That make sense.  Focus on the things that you do well, and forget about the rest.

In focusing on only doing what you are best at, remember to keep your focus on the things that are important.  Paul discusses the right attitude for you to have.  In Philippians 3:13-14, Scripture specifies what you are to think about: “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Yes, it is important for you to realize that you have not arrived at where Jesus wants you to be.  But what you need to do is to forget the past.  Yes, that means forgetting the failures and the accomplishments you achieved.  The past is in the past, so leave it there.  What you are to do, is to “press on.”  No matter what life throws your way, you just keep living daily to please Jesus in all you say and do.

To be successful just “press on.”  Keep at living a Godly life in all you say and do.  How do you do that?  By focusing on “the prize” that you will receive one day, when you are in heaven.  Being successful is just being faithful!
