Spiritual Power

You are not a Christian long before you learn that in order to live the Christian life, you must do so in the power of the Holy Spirit.  As you study your Bible and learn more about the Christian life, you learn that all of the Christian life and ministry is a direct result of the Holy Spirit.

For effective ministry to happen, it requires the work of the Holy Spirit.  A group of pastors was discussing the possibility of having D. L. Moody serve as an evangelist at a city-wide evangelistic campaign.  One minister was reluctant to have Moody speak.  “Why Moody?” he asked.  “Does he have a monopoly on the Holy Spirit?”  The question was followed by a hushed silence.  Finally, another man spoke up and said, “No, Moody does not a monopoly on the Holy Spirit.  But the Holy Spirit does have a monopoly on D. L. Moody.”  Having the spiritual power of the Holy Spirit in your life makes all the difference in the world.

Jesus, forty days after His resurrection, meets with His disciples.  He tells them the reason He must go away.  When Jesus goes away, He will send the Holy Spirit.  The reason the Holy Spirit will come into the world, Jesus states, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8).  The Holy Spirit’s power enables you to live and minister, spiritually.

Your Christian life is totally based upon spiritual power.  That spiritual power comes from the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life.  The Holy Spirit enlightens your spirit to understand the Scriptures, allows you to live the Christian life, and ministers to others as you share spiritual truths.

Yes, you do have spiritual power.  Your whole being, in all areas in which you live and move, are all done 100% by the Holy Spirit’s work in your life.  Thank you, Jesus, for sending your Holy Spirit!
