It does not take long before you learn that being a winner is better than being a loser. Your genes push you toward wanting to be at the top. That passion may be stronger in you than in others, or the opposite may be true. But everyone likes to succeed in some area of their life.
How do you become successful? Some will say that all that is required is to get all the education you can. Although, there is power in knowledge, just having more knowledge does not lead to success. Others say that being at the right place at the right time will make you successful. As you think about that, you realize that being successful is more than that.
As you look at the lives of successful people, one attribute that seems to flow from them all is that hard work was a part of their makeup. C. W. Wendte says it this way: “Success in life is a matter not so much of talent as of concentration and perseverance.” So many of the successful people, and those that excel as inventors, are those who refused to give up. Setting a goal and pressing onward through thick and thin results in being successful in so many cases.
As Joshua took the leadership role of the Israelites after Moses, God Almighty tells him exactly how to be successful: “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success” (Joshua 1:8). At first glance this verse seems to say that success is directly linked to meditating on Scripture day and night. That is true, and that is much needed. In fact, this first step is essential. But as you look closer to the verse, you see the real secret to being successful – “you may be careful to do all that is written in it” (emphasis I added). Wow! What an eye opener? You are successful as you live in obedience to the Bible.
To rise to the top in life and be successful is extremely simple – daily live according to the Scriptures!
