You like to receive more blessings. When the Lord opens the gates of heaven and showers blessings on your life, you totally enjoy it. Life itself seems to be more enjoyable, when it is free of negative life events.
Although you enjoy life when blessings are abundant, let me suggest there is even a better way to enjoy life on earth. That stage of life is when you give. Think about Christmas for example. There is nothing quite like the feeling, when you give a gift that you know the other person is not expecting and will blow their socks off. They open the gift. Then and there you are excited from head to foot to see their total surprise and abundant joy over the gift.
Not everyone enjoys giving. To them everything in life is about getting. That is too bad. They never experience the joy of giving; in fact, they never enjoy life. The trouble with some folks who give until it hurts is that they are so sensitive to pain. This robs them of the joy of giving.
The Bible is full of stories and teaching on giving. Giving is something that God expects from His children. Yes, a Christian is to give monetarily to the Lord’s work, but its teaching goes much deeper than that. Jesus taught that His disciples were to give of themselves to others. Acts 20:35 puts it this way: “…you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than receive.’” Jesus wants you to have a big heart. To have a big heart in your giving. Your giving is not so much concerned with the monetary value of your gift, but in your attitude of giving.
Yes, you want to receive more blessings in your life. The way to do this, that the Lord Jesus taught, is to give more. It really is “more blessed to give than receive.” Now, that is the joyful way to live!
