What? I can just hear you saying that with a puzzled look on your face. I know I am the guy that tells you to wait on the Lord. My philosophy of life is to pray and pray about something and wait for the Lord’s guidance. I believe that attitude toward life with my whole heart, but on the other hand there is a time to stop praying and to act. Some people spend their whole life praying about what to do and avoid the fact that God is telling them to stop praying and get into action.
Lorne Sanny of the Navigators said his father told him all his instruction to Lorne could be summed up in four words: “Get with it, Son.” You are to stop lagging around and doing nothing and start getting with God’s program for your life. Look at that statement by his Dad closely. He did not say just go out there and get busy doing something or anything is better than nothing. Notice, “Son” has a double meaning in the text. Yes, the reference to “son” is implied, so that Lorne, and you and me, are to do something. The something you are to do is what the “Son,” or Jesus, tells you to do.
Scripture is not silent in telling you what you are to do. It describes it clearly in 2 Timothy 2:22, “Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those that call on the Lord from a pure heart.” In other words, stop playing around with all those thoughts and desires you had as a youth. Start living daily for those things that are important to God, which are pursuing God’s righteousness, God’s faith, God’s love, and God’s peace. The beginning of the verse starts with “Now,” emphasizing doing it immediately and not waiting around until tomorrow or later.
So, yes you are to do it now! Start right now pursing and living God’s truth daily in your life. Do it now!
