During your Christian pilgrimage on earth, there are several experiences you have that are life-changing. The first of these is when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Soon after this you realized that to grow in your relationship with Christ, you would need to have a daily time set aside for Bible reading and prayer. As you matured in your walk with the Lord, you experienced occasional times, when you achieved a spiritual high.
Those experiences are all good and beneficial as you serve the King of kings and Lord of lords. As you get to know God more and more, you realize that there is so much more you need to learn. G. Campbell Morgan’s son testifies that his father arose early each working day and spent several hours with his Bible, having only a light breakfast of tea and toast. After fifty-five years of intensive Bible study Morgan said, “I have only touched the fringes of the Bible.” Think about that for a minute. With over five decades of in-depth Bible study, still the riches of the Word are God are too vast and too deep to be comprehended.
The Scriptures affirm the fact of the vast spiritual food contained within its covers. A quick look at Ephesians 1:18 affirms that fact: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of your calling, what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” Yes, pray that God will open your eyes to the riches in His Word. Then you will begin to learn “the riches of the glory” in the Book of books.
To gain spiritual knowledge means you must dig for gold in the Holy Bible. The knowledge contained there is far too deep and far too wide to learn everything in your lifetime. You will never reach an end in your quest for biblical knowledge. Although, you will never learn everything, the more you dig for gold in the Bible the deeper your love and devotion to God will grow. Just keep digging for that spiritual gold!
