Finding That Right Occupation

You realize that in order to work at an occupation for the rest of your life, you should enjoy it.  You may be one of those unfortunate people that are just existing at your job and doing anything but enjoying it.  For the total number of years, you must work before you enter retirement; it just makes sense to find work that you enjoy.

It has been said that if you work at something that you enjoy that it is not work at all.  Stop right here!  Read that last statement slowly and let it sink in.  Your occupation does not need to be laborious.  Find a profession that you enjoy doing the work required for it.  You enjoy the work and actually get paid to do what you like.  Now, that is the way to spend the rest of your working days.  One of the great pleasures in life consists of being paid handsomely for doing what you would be doing anyway, without pay.  That is the best of two worlds; your profession is extremely enjoyable and you get handsomely paid for it, too.

The Holy Bible commands believers to really enjoy their service to Him with the result that abundant rewards will follow.  “Whatever you do, do your work heartily; as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.  It is the Lord Christ whom you serve” (Colossians 3:23).  Notice, that the exact type of work you do is not of concern to the Lord— “whatever you do.”  Also, the Bible says that you are to have fun doing your work; you are to have a blast performing your work— “do your work heartily.”  Lastly, the work you do is with the motive of pleasing Jesus Christ, not other people or your employer— “for the Lord rather than men.”

Find that occupation that you can do that you truly enjoy doing.  As you do it, absolutely love your job and do it to please God, not your boss.  Now, punch that clock and begin your work!
