Reading the Crystal Ball

You like to know what lies ahead.  At Christmas, you have that friend that just has to know what presents they have before it is time to open them.  This tendency starts at very early age.  Young children are so excited the day before Christmas, that they get little sleep.  Knowing what the future may bring is where you spend a good bit of thought time.

“It is difficult to prophesy, particularly with regard to the future” (Chinese Proverb).  You chuckle!  You cannot know with much certainty what your future holds.  Despite this fact, you spend much time, and maybe some money, into trying to find out what your future will look like.

You listen to as many sermons as you can, that discuss prophecy.  Surely, you think, if you know the future you will know whether life on earth is getting better or worse.  Also, you think that you will be better able to cope with that life, if you know it ahead of time.

The Holy Bible is not silent on future occurrences.  It describes the events that will happen to earth during the end times of the earth’s existence.  In 2 Peter 3:9 The Holy Bible says this about end times: “The Lord is not slow about His promise…”  Thus, God is saying that the events of the last days on earth are most assuredly going to happen.

Now, that you have read the crystal ball and know that the end of earth is going to happen, what should you do in the mean time?  Since, you do not know the day or the hour that the end will come, use each moment of each day to live for the glory of God.  A good question to ask yourself daily is the following—”am I doing exactly what I would be proud of doing if Jesus came right now?”

Forget about reading that crystal ball.  Settle yourself with the truth that God is in control, and He is bringing everything about just as He planned.  Trusting God to handle the future just might have something to do with your faith.
