How to be an Effective Witness

You became a Christian and found out that you are to witness to unbelievers.  Witnessing to those without Christ is just not in your comfort zone.  Every time you start to share Christ with someone who is lost, your tongue gets three inches thick and your mind goes completely blank.  You try to evangelize but most of the time it does not come out the way you think it should.

There is definitely a time and a place to vocalize your relationship with Jesus.  In order for someone to come into saving faith with the Lord, certain facts need to be shared for conviction of the Holy Spirit and regeneration to occur.

Even though this is something you must do, there is something else you can do until the Lord Jesus opens the door for the gospel message to be shared.  An unknown author succinctly puts it this way, “Holiness vanishes when you talk about it, but becomes gloriously conspicuous when you live it.”  Now that is something to think about.  Although, the message is very important to winning people to Christ, you can allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives by being a holy witness.

The Holy Bible talks much about us living the Word daily in our lives.  Jesus, God the Son, taught the disciples in words and in His lifestyle.  The disciples got to see exactly how Jesus handled every situation of life for three years.  His words were powerful, because they came from the mouth of God the Son and were ratified by the life He lived.  After Jesus washed the disciples feet, He gives them, and you, this command, “For I you an example that you also should do as I did to you” (John 13:15).   What was His example?  Nothing more than holy living.

One way to be an effective witness is by your holy living to be an example of a true Christian.  The time to verbally share your faith will come, but in the meantime. Let your holy living speak for itself.
