Has it been a while since you laughed? How long has it been since you smiled all throughout the day? Well, how long has it been since you even smiled at all during a day? Has life with its struggles taken a toll on your life? Has the boredom of routine gotten to you? Then let a fresh breeze of joy sweep over you. Let joy reside again in your soul.
I know that life can get tough. If it is not bad enough for one joyless blow to hit you, then you know full well the feeling of blow after blow of joyless events flooding your being. The words of an unknown poet may give you some help: “It’s easy enough to be pleasant, when life flows by like a song, but the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when everything goes dead wrong.” Yes, you can smile when the blows of adversity hit. But you cannot do it on your own strength.
You need a fresh drink from the spiritual spring that flows from the Word of God. It takes a supernatural filling of joy not some man-made fabricated joy. Listen to Scripture: “Instead of shame you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore, they will possess a double portion in their land, everlasting joy will be theirs” (Isaiah 61;7; NASV). This is the Lord’s promise to those who put their faith in Him. Notice, you will receive not just a portion, but “will have a double portion.” And the result of putting your trust in the Lord is that you “will shout for joy.”
Christ wants to have fellowship with you. He yearns for that relationship. As you turn your life over to Him He fills you with His joy.
So, cheer up! Ask Christ to fill you with the Holy Spirit! Joy is just a prayer away! Ask Christ’s help right now!
