As you think of your ministry, you probably think of the church you attend. You go to church on a regular basis. You give a tithe to the church. Maybe, you even attend a Sunday School. When the gift of helps is needed, you are right there meeting that need. All of this you view as your ministry. And you are totally correct.
But your ministry is much more than those functions you perform at church. A friend of Leighton Ford said to him, “Ministry is what we leave in our tracks as we follow the Lord.” Think about that statement for a second or two. Let those words sink beyond your mind into your behavior. Living daily for Christ has the result of the kind of ministry for the Lord in your life. Your ministry is a direct result of how you live daily for Jesus.
Women have always been a vital part of the church and ministry of Christ. It goes back even to when He was involved in His earthly ministry. Jesus is going about here and there in Galilee teaching and preaching the gospel. He is not alone. Of course, He has His disciples with Him. Along with them are several women. The women are not just bystanders, listening to Christ’s words. “When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and minister to Him, and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem” (Mark 15:41; NASV). Notice, the women followed Christ. They did not just tag along and not be involved. The verse says “they used to follow Him and minister to Him.” Wherever the women went, they went ministering to Jesus.
You have a ministry, too. As you go about your daily activities, the things you do and the people you touch, are all part of your ministry. Let’s make sure we minister well!
