Stay Balanced

You probably have some strong Christian convictions.  You feel like to be a good believer means staying true to a few biblical principles.  To ensure that you are correct in that stance, the church you attend proclaims those tenants also.  If they were not so, then your pastor would not hold such strong beliefs.

There are a few, and I do mean a few, tenants of the Christian faith that you do not need to stray from.  That is not where most believers stand.  You may just have a few things you believe that keeps you from having fellowship with other believers.  And to make matters worse, your rigidity may be what is hindering you from winning others to Christ.

It all centers around you being balanced.  Martin Luther once said that God’s truth is like a drunkard trying to ride a horse: prop him up on one side, and he topples over on the other.  Balance is indeed hard to achieve in applying God’s truth no less than understanding it.  We are always in danger of pushing some biblical principle to an extreme.  It is much easier to go to one extreme or other, than it is to stand on the tightrope of truth having a balanced life.

Proverbs has some great truths that help you live a life of wisdom before Christ.  In those pages of wisdom literature, you find tucked away some helpful words dealing with the balance Christian life: “Do not turn to the right nor to the left, turn your foot from evil” (Proverbs 4:27; NASV).  So, how to you live a life totally walking with Christ and staying away from sin?  By keeping a balanced life.

There are enough lunatics out there promoting one extreme after another.  Be that lone pillar of truth.  Remember, stay balanced!
