Getting That Dream

What is your dream?  A better job?  Graduate from school?  Get married?  Have a better marriage?  Have a specific ministry?  Have more peace?  Or joy?  Be a more loving person?  If you do not have a dream, stop right here and find one.  Live is meant to be spent going after one dream after another.  Dreams are what add fire and enthusiasm to your life.  Never, ever, give up dreaming!

Having a dream is one thing but there is more to this life than just having a dream.  Dreams are essential.  They keep us striving for something better.  You are to have dreams and to pursue them.  Just having a dream and not trying to obtain it is just daydreaming.  I am not talking about being a daydreamer; this is someone who has his/her head in the clouds and accomplishes nothing.  I am talking about having dreams that challenge you to work hard for something.  Johann von Goethe has some wise words considering accomplishing your dreams: “Whatever you can do, or think that you can do, begin it.  For boldness has power and courage and genius in it.”  In other words, dust off that dream of your and put action to accomplishing it.  The mere fact that you actively go after that dream is a powerful step toward accomplishing it.

The Scriptures are full of verses commanding you to pursue heavenly goals.  Your specific goal may not be a spiritual goal as such.  It may be something though that will enhance your relationship with Christ.  “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13; NASV).  That means that whatever you pursue you can accomplish.  You obtain that goal not in your own strength, but in the strength you get from Christ.  Go grab the bull by the horns and obtain your goal!
