Welcoming Life’s Trials

I do not have to tell you that life is full of trials.  No matter who you are, you realize that on a regular basis you encounter trials.  They come is all shapes and sizes.  They, also, come from one extreme to another.  Most of the time they are unwanted guests.  The sooner you can eliminate them from your life the better you like it.

Let’s change your perspective on trials.  Actually, trials can be viewed as a positive guest in your life.  “Take a piece of wax, a piece of meat, some sand, some clay and some [wood] shavings, put them on the fire and see how they react.  Each of them is being tested by the same agent, yet . . . the wax melts, the meat fries, the sand dries up, the clay hardens, the [wood] shavings blaze.  Just so . . . under identical influence of circumstances and environment one person is made better and stronger, another weaker, while another withers away” (The Vineland Voice).  Why is it that there are different responses to the testing?  It boils down to a matter of perspective.  The way you look at the test makes all the difference in the world.

Scripture helps you have a correct view of trials and temptations that occur in your life.  “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James 1:12; NASV).  So, what is the difference that makes trials a welcome friend instead of a dreaded foe?  It is knowing that the trial comes from Christ.  Either Christ sends that trial your way or He allows that trial to come to His child.

To welcome life’s trials comes with a realization that it is not meant to bring you down either spiritually or
