The Sting Of Death

You may have a fear of death.  This fear may come from you not being a Christian and wondering what life after this earthly existence may hold for you.  Fear may grip you.  You cope with death by not thinking about it.  On the other hand, you may be a Christian who fears death.  Entering into an eternal destiny that you know little about causes emotional stress to fill your soul.

            G. Wells, famed historian and philosopher, said at age sixty-0ne, “I have no peace. All life is at the end of its tether.”  That is the mindset of someone who does not know Christ personally.  For that person death has no peace.  What about you?  Do you find that death brings with it a deep loss of peace?  If you have no relationship with Christ then there is no peace.

To have peace with death all starts with knowing Christ as your Lord and Savior.  You must accept His payment on the cross for your sins.  Then you must obey the Scriptures (this is what making Christ Lord of your life means).

Christ holds back no punches when He talks about your eternal destiny.  He spells out very plainly your need for to respond to His call in your life.  “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passes out of death into life” (John 5:24; NASV).  To eliminate fear of death is just as simple as putting your faith in Christ for eternal salvation.

Eliminate the sting of death.  This happens as you live for Christ daily.  At that point, as the verse above says, you have “passed out of death into life.”  Trust Christ right now!  Then rejoice in one day spending eternity with Him!
