Spiritual Power

You know that the Scriptures teach the power of prayer.  That you can go to Christ in prayer and He will open the gates of heaven to fulfill your request.  Both personal experience and the experience of others is a testimony to the power of prayer.  Yes, there is power in prayer but there is an ingredient needed other than just prayer.

As you think of spiritual power another great source comes to your mind.  It is the power of the word of God.  There is power in the Scriptures.  The Lord tells you in the Scriptures that as you put forth Bible verses they will not return unto Him void.  Yet, again, there is something needed to make Bible verses come alive.

You can search for spiritual power in the church.  You would think that spiritual power, if found anywhere, could be found within the walls of the church.  “Today much of the professing church has gone in for theatrics, running a showboat instead of a lifeboat, staging a performance instead of living an experience, a ‘form of godliness without the power thereof’” (The Vance Havner Quote Book).  Too many churches focus their attention on being entertainment, instead of proclaiming Bible truth.

Jesus is crucified.  He is dead.  Wait a minute!  Or should I say, wait 3 days.  Now Jesus is resurrected!  He appears to His disciples with some earth-shattering news.  “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8; NASV).  The Holy Spirit is the source of your spiritual power.

Spiritual power is the direct result of the Holy Spirit working in your life.  Let Christ empower you with His Spirit!
