The easiest thing in the world to do is to do nothing. How easy it is to just forget about that task that needs to be done. You know its importance but just put it on t he back burner. It may not be that you are too busy to do it. And it may not be that you are just not busy. That inward tugging at your inner being tells you not right now.
That struggle hits everyone. It is part of being human. Submitting to its control in your life, though, will keep you from accomplishing those good things in your life. You will not get anything done with that type of mentality.
When it deals with putting forth the needed effort and getting things done, it all starts with a mental attitude. Take the words of David Starr Jordan to heart: “Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.” Getting the task done is so important. Although, knowing what to do and how to do it make the accomplishment of that task meaningful.
Proverbs talks about the sluggard and how the wise man/woman will avoid such useless use of their time. You are wise to take heed to such warnings. There is a verse of Scripture that I quote to myself daily. It helps me not only do something, but to do the important task at hand. “Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise wise men but of wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16; NASV). Notice that command right in the middle of the verse – “making the most of your time.” Time is a valuable commodity. Once it is gone, it can never be retrieved.
Use your time wisely. Prioritize what needs to be done in a day then do them in that order. Yes, it is time for you to get with it and get it done. Ask Christ to help you!
