A Joyful Sound

Do you love to listen to music?  You probably love to kick back and hear some melodious sounds.  Your preferred music may be classical, pop, rock-n-roll, country, rap, or contemporary Christian music.  The fact is that when the music begins, your spirit is lifted.

The culture in which you live is filled with music sounds.  Look at the people around you and especially young people.  There are ear buds or head phone on most of them all the time.

Is it sinful to be so obsessed with music?  Since you like to be emendated with music, is that something you need to keep from doing.  Martin Luther was a reformer who stood fast on the authority of Scripture.  He is the pillar for much of Christian theology today.  He taught that salvation was only through faith in Christ alone.  When discussing music, he says this: “He who despises music, as do all the fanatics, does not please me.  Music is a gift of God, not a gift of men . . . After theology, I accord to music the highest place and greatest honor.”  He could not have stressed the need for music in your life to a greater extent.

King Solomon completes the building of the temple.  He offers a lengthy prayer, offers thousands of animals in worship to the Lord, and leads the Israelites in worship of God.  Next, the Word of God says, “The priests stood at their posts, and the Levites also, with the instruments of music to the Lord, which King David had made for giving praise to the Lord” (2 Chronicles 7:6; NASV).  Notice, that the instruments of music were made specifically for giving “praise to the Lord.”

Just know that music is a heavenly expression of worship to Christ.  Worship Christ today through music!
