You approach every day with intensity, as you put forth your best effort in everything you do that day. From one task to the next, you give it the best you can do. Or, you may not have any such attitude. You may just do your best to make it through each day.
How you approach each day determines what you get accomplished. Also, the way you view each day determines how you feel, emotionally. To gain the most daily, the right mental attitude is necessary. In the Westminster Abbey a monument to Lord Lawrence has inscribed on it his name, his date of birth, and these words: “He feared man so little because he feared God so much.” Now that is the way to live. Fear God. Put your complete trust into honoring and obeying Him above all else.
Jesus talks to those who are following Him. He gives wise words in the greatest of all sermons ever preached discussing wealth. People back then are the same as you are today. Wealth is worth pursuing. Jesus talks about storing up treasure in heaven and not on earth. He says you cannot serve two masters. He talks about how the Heavenly Father feeds the birds and adorns the flowers with beauty.
After discussing how God takes cares for all of these, Christ applies it to how you need to live your life. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33; NASV). Christ’s teaching is simple. Relax. Seek God first. Let all your desires come second. Put living for God first in your life.
To have right priorities means you must put living for Christ first in your life. Life is short. Live totally and completely for Christ. Do so today! Do so every day! Now that yields a joyful life!
