Before looking into having a good home, let’s set something straight. Everyone has a home. If you are married with children, you draw your attention to having a good home. But if you are married, without children, the place you sleep is your home. And it may come to your surprise, even if you are single, that the place you retire to after work is your home. Yes, everyone has a home.
Since you have a home, does it not make sense to make that home the best it can be? An unknown author talked about their home as they stated: “The most valuable gift you can give your family is a good example.” Now, that makes sense for a family with children, and even, for a married couple. But what about for a single person. No matter, if you are married or single, the example you make at home will show itself when you are away from home. Learn to just be yourself wherever and whenever you are.
It is so wonderful to have the teachings of Jesus to guide you in your earthly pilgrimage. He talked about you dying and being with Him in heaven, along with staying on earth in your physical body. “Therefore, we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him” (2 Corinthians 5:9; NASV). The point Christ is making is, that during your life on earth, you are to live in such a way that everything you do pleases Christ. This includes your home life.
Start today to make you home a better one than it was before. It starts with making your thoughts, words, and actions pleasing to Jesus. Doing that will improve the quality of your home. Making your home a place where Christ is honored has benefits on earth and in heaven. Have a home that is pleasing to Christ! Start today!
