Being A Godly Leader

You may think that being a Godly leader is related to your pastor or elder in your church.  And, of course, it also includes all the church deacons.  You are very true.  It does include all of them.

But a Godly leader is more than some position one holds in church.  As a father, you are the leader of your home.  As a mother, you are a leader to those children Christ has given you underneath your care.  Both the father and mother teach the children different things.  Thus, they are leaders.  You may be single and wonder how in the world you are a leader?  Then if a teenager or young person you may have a hard time seeing yourself as a leader.  Every person, especially Christians, have others watching them.  You influence others by the example you live.  You are a leader.

Harold Geneen discusses leadership: “Leadership is the ability to inspire other people to work together as a team under your direction in order to obtain a common objective.”  That applies to the business world.  The part of that quote that jumps out at me is “to inspire other people.”  You can inspire others in-and-out of the marketplace.

Jesus overheard a conversation of His apostles.  They were arguing over who would be the greatest in Christ’s kingdom one day.  Jesus responds by saying, “But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant” (Luke 12:26; NASV).  The leader must become the servant.  Servant leadership is the key.

So, how do you become a great Godly leader?  By being a servant.  Servant leadership is what Christ commanded of His disciples and what He requires of you.  Seek Christ now!
