So many times in your life, you find that you need a little encouragement. No matter what age you are, there are times when a gentle pat on the back, an uplifting word, or a word from Scripture, can propel you to get back on track. In fact, sometimes you may accomplish even greater things than you thought possible.
Encouragement fills you with optimism. It causes you to put your chin up and keep going on. “Encouragement is oxygen to the soul” (George Adam). Yes, you need oxygen to sustain life. Also, you need encouragement to keep that positive mental attitude.
The source of encouragement comes from many places. The absolute best source is Scripture. One such verse, tucked away in the New Testament, is as follows: “Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus” (Romans 15:5). Isn’t that amazing? God is the author of encouragement. He is the One, who gives you the strength to move forward. Look a little closer at that verse, especially the end of the verse. The encouragement that God gives lies in its relationship with Christ. Isn’t that just like our Savior? Christ gives encouragement like no one else.
If not now, then some time in the future, you will need a little encouragement. Know that it is available just for the asking. Ask Christ to fill you with peace and joy. Let Him know that you are discouraged and need some encouragement.
Sometimes it does not come immediately, but know it will come. Often, sooner than you think. If you do not know Christ personally, do so now. Let Christ encourage you!
