You know the importance of faith. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9; NKJV). Entering into the kingdom of God, means that it was accomplished by the grace of Christ. That grace, came through faith in the work of Christ on the cross. So, your faith was given to you, from Christ, without anything you were able to do. It was a gift. You do not earn a gift. A gift is something, that is free with no strings attached.
You enter into the kingdom of God by grace and through faith. Now, that you are a kingdom dweller, you are to be a worker in that kingdom. In discussing the need for work during your Christian pilgrimage, William Arthur Ward, says it this way: “God gives us the ingredients for our daily bread, but he expects us to do the baking.” Thus, you are to take and learn from the Scriptures how to live, then you are to put them into daily practice.
Scripture tells you that your faith is very important to you living the Christian life. Your entrance into Christ’s kingdom is by faith. But living daily for Christ, means that you must put that faith into action. Without doing work, evident in your Christian living, there is a question if you are actually saved or not. “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also” (James 2:24-26; NKJV).
Faith is important as a Christian. But your works in daily living is what is required, more than faith alone!
