As you consider the quality that you need to keep you moving forward, lots of qualities enter your mind. Love is an essential quality, since Scripture places a high regard to it. Faith, is another quality that is absolutely essential to live the Christian life. And without hope, you would give up and not press on for Christ. All these are extremely important, but the quality I have in mind for today is not one of these.
Those qualities above, all play an important part of successful Christian living. Those in addition to a good dose of encouragement will go a long way in propelling you forward for the cause of Christ. “There are high spots in all of our lives, and most of them have come about through encouragement from someone else. I don’t care how great, how famous, or successful a man or a woman may be, each hungers for applause” (George Matthew Adams). That is so very true of you, me, and everyone on planet earth. More than likely, what got you through some of your hardest times in your life was a kind word or gesture someone did for you. What was done or said, at just the right, time made all the difference in your life.
Christ knows you inside and out. He knows you better, than you know yourself. So, listen to what Christ tells you about encouragement in His word: “For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established – that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and of me” (Romans 1:11-12; NKJV). Christ tells us, that He wants you to be established in your faith. How? By being an encourager.
That needed life quality to keep you going and going on the right track, is encouragement. Encourage those you meet! What goes around, comes around. Be an encourager!
