Getting Serious With Christ

At the beginning of this year, why not get serious in your relationship with Christ?  You know deep down inside that you need to have a closer relationship with Him.  Have a deeper faith in Christ will not just happen.  The ball is in your court, and you are the one who must put forth the effort for that to happen.

I know you have an interest in Godly things.  After all, that is why you became a Christian.  That is why you attend church.  That is why you read your Bible, even if it is sporadic.  “There’s a difference between interest and commitment.  When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit.  When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results” (Art Turock).  This is especially true as it relates to spiritual things.  Show me how you spend your time, and I will show you the things to which you are committed.

You have a desire to have a deeper relationship with Christ.  But, just maybe, you are unsure how to go about that.  The way to be closer to Christ is to spend more time in the Scriptures.  As you read the Scriptures, and then live your life by its principles, you will become more like Christ.  The Word of God challenges you to do that very thing: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; NKJV).  Look closely at the end of those verses.  It says that the way you can be “complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” that Christ brings your way is by spending time in the Scriptures.

Get serious with Christ!  Start doing that today!
