A Time to Tell

You know that you should tell others about Christ dying for their sins.  The need for leading others into a relationship to Christ has never been more needed.  I know what you are thinking: that is just not my thing.  That is something I do not feel comfortable in doing.

Every Christian is commanded to tell those they meet about the saving grace that is found in no one else, other than Christ.  The Scriptures makes it clear that every believer is to look at himself/herself as an evangelist.  In talking about the role of an evangelist, Michael Gott has some words worth considering: “An evangelist is a nobody who is seeking to tell everybody about Somebody who can help change anybody.”  Now, that gives you clear direction as to your role as a Christian.

To be ready to tell others about Christ, means that you need to do a little homework.  Before telling others, you must know what to say.  You must have a clear direction, that you want that conversation to go.  Scripture dictates that philosophy: “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15, NKJV).  Note particularly, the words “always be ready to give a defense.”  This means you are to know ahead of time, what you are going to say.

As the Lord Christ leads you, He will bring into your life unbelievers, whom He wants you to share Christ with them.  As the verse above says, you are to “be ready.”  Put forth some effort and know what you will say to an unbeliever, in regards to his/her eternal destiny.  It starts with you being prepared in what you will say to them.  Just remember, their eternal destiny is at stake!
