Living Contrary to the World

You live in a world that promotes you to get ahead at all costs.  You are to exert yourself and do whatever it takes to succeed in life.  Being successful is all that really matters.  To make matters worse, that success is to be gained at all costs.  No matter what you have to do, do it because you deserve it.

Albert Einstein was one of the smartest men to live in recent times.  He was not a psychologist or philosopher, but he does say some wise words in accordance to how you should live your life.  Be prepared, it runs cross grain to society’s agenda.  He said, “It is high time we change the ideal of success for the ideal of service.”  This world needs more servants.

The Holy Bible talks about Someone who deserved to be worshipped and waited on hand-and-foot.  His teachings were just the opposite.  He said that He came into this world as God in the flesh, and His purpose was to be a servant.  Jesus’ words speak for themselves: “And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:27, 28, NKJV).  Jesus, God Himself in human form, left heaven and came to earth to show you how to be a servant.

This world screams from the mountain top for you to exert yourself and do whatever you need to do to be successful.  BUT (emphasis added), the Christian has a whole other lifestyle to live.  Jesus is commanding every believer to live a life of a servant.  And that includes you.  Serve the Lord Jesus, by being obedient to the Scriptures in how you live your life.

Be faithful to Christ!  Be strong!  Be a servant!
