You have a vison of what you believe God wants you to do. Too often that does not come automatically. It is not something that falls in your lap. Most of the time, in accomplishing God’s will for your life, it is revealed in stages. One event leads to another event, until after the passing of time, you are able have that vison realized in your life.
Sticking to a task is not a 2023 new realization. It has been around for centuries. Hanging in there when life gets tough is the life-blood of Christianity. Athanasius at the Council of Nicea stated it this way: “If all of this world falls from the truth, I will stand!” Now, that is someone who is not wishy-washy. He is determined and knows what he will stand for. Not to have his sand swayed by the seas, no matter where they come from; he will stand firm
Scripture talks about the time in which you will answer for your life events on earth. In discussing that day, it says, “who will render to each person according to the deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life” (Romans 2:6-7). God rewards you when you have “perseverance in doing good.” You stick to the task(s) God gives you. Abandoning ship is unthinkable. Even deviating from the task and moving to the right or left is not an option. You are on a laser beam trail of doing exactly what God leads you to do. Notice the result of such a die-hard mentality of keeping-on and keeping-on for the long haul. It is mentioned at the end of the verse – “eternal life.” You will have a heavenly reward.
