How To Have A Great 2023

Can you believe it?  All the events of 2022 will shortly be in the record books.  The year 2022 is coming to a close. It all ends this coming Sunday.

With 2022 ending, how are we to welcome and make sure 2023 will be a great year for us?  The ancient Romans give you some insight into that matter.  The month of January is named after the Roman god, Janus, who was pictured as a man with two faces.  One was looking backward and the other looking forward.  New Year’s Day provides a valuable time to ponder the past, while anticipating the future.  To have a great future in 2023, you must look ahead and make plans for what you want to accomplish then.

The Word of God provides some wise words to follow, as you make plans for 2023: “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).  To make the most of 2023 requires that whatever happened in 2022 be left in the past.  You are not a victim of the events of 2022; whether good or bad, leave them in the past.  It is the plan of 2023, that you should place your attention upon.  Like the verse says, as you plan and live in 2023, “I press on.”  Pursue the things you want to happen in 2023 with zest.

You want this coming year to be a great year.  To do so, put this past 2022 in the rearview mirror, and make plans for a fantastic 2023.  This New Year begins this Sunday.  Before then, jot down a few goals you want to accomplish in 2023 and review them from time to time during the year.  I hope you have a great 2023!  Happy New Year!
