When you were a child, you got help from your parents. Anytime you needed something, you knew you had your Mom and Dad to come to the rescue. There was nothing you needed that was not provided by those two.
As you grew older, the things you needed in life were supplied by others. It could be your friends that met that need. Or a boyfriend or girlfriend came to the rescue. It may even have been a Sunday school teacher or pastor.
Not long after you became a Christian, you discovered that the ultimate Person to give you help was none other than the Lord God. God is referred in the Scriptures as your Rock. Thinking about this, I recall a short story. A woman said, “I may tremble on the Rock, but the Rock never trembles under me.” That is sound theology to base your life on. There are times when you are uncertain of the issues life is dealing you. Your response is to grow weary and wane in your faith. The reality is that although you may be unsure of life’s events, there is a God in heaven Who is in full control of your life.
David in the Old Testament knew all too well how the bottom can fall out of your life. In fact, one setback often is followed by another occurring all too soon. David found his strength for earthly trials in heavenly assurances; God will always help. “You are my rock and my fortress; for Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me” (Psalm 31:3). You, like David, have the God of the heaven who will direct your every step.
To get the help you so desperately need, go to the One who is immovable. God is that foundation Rock that will always be there for you. Relax. Stand on the Rock. That is the best help you will ever have!
