Being Faithful

One of the things in life you remember as you were growing up, is that you would stand up for a family member or friend.  You would not let anyone say or do anything bad against those you loved.  If not done in your actions, then it was done in what you said.

The things in life that you muster around and take a stand upon, tell a lot about you as a person.  John Stott, a Bible scholar and author, makes a wise statement, when he said: “It is not too difficult to be relevant if you don’t care about being faithful.  And its not too difficult to be faithful if you don’t care about being relevant.”  Stop!  Re-read that slowly.  Those words make us stop and realize that being both relevant and faithful together are rare.

Scripture is talking about blessings that you receive as a member of God’s family.  It then states: “Faithful is He that calls you, and He will bring it to pass” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).   The Lord God is faithful.  He is Someone you can count on.  He does what He says and says what He does.  The Lord is faithful in His calling you to be one of His children.  Of all the people on this earth, Christ calls you.  As Christ calls you, He is faithful.  He is faithful to “bring it to pass.”  This means Christ will work in your life to do and work the events of your life to please Him.

As Christ is faithful to you, so you are to be faithful to Him.  The Lord’s faithfulness to you is an example of how you should live your life; you are to be faithful to Christ.  Times of trials and testing will enter your life.  It is those times that Christ wants you to remain faithful to Him.  Anyone can be faithful when life is carefree and easy.  Being faithful occurs when your back is against the wall and there is no place to turn.  Focus on being faithful!
