You know that you did something wrong. What is worse, you have been found out. The deed you thought was done in secret has now come into full light. What did you do? The tendency is to avoid the issue. If that does not work, you stretch the truth. Both of those tendencies are not ideal. The best thing to do is to simply to tell the truth.
Robert Spear used to tell of a young man who was going to the mission field. A friend said to the young man, “You know where you are going, don’t you? In the shade it’s 110!” The young man replied, “I don’t have to stay in the shade all the time.” Now, that is taking a stand and not letting circumstances overtake you. That takes courage.
In your life there are probably several times where you have taken a stand, where it took courage. At that time that courageous stance was uncomfortable. Afterwards, you were glad you had the courage you did have.
Often times in your spiritual life, courage is a much-needed attribute. The Lord God knows that from time to time during your earthly journey you need to be courageous. That is why He penned in Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the Lord.” Going along with being courageous in your spiritual life, the verse also says “be strong.” Being courageous and being strong go hand-in-hand. And so often part of what goes with being courageous is waiting on the Lord to work in your situation.
There are times in your life where some backbone of being courageous is needed. Just sit back and “be strong” as your heart takes courage. The Lord’s answer is right around the corner!
