A lot of how you respond to life depends upon your responses to the challenges that life brings your way. It is not so much the exact trial or circumstance that happen to you, as much as it is the way you handle those events. It is true that everyone has different life events to handle. No two people have exactly the same problems to overcome, but the way you tackle them says so much about you as a person.
Circumstances come and circumstances go. That is a fact of life. You might as well get used to having them around in your life, because it is a fact that those ups and downs of life are part of your earthly journey.
What matters most is your response to those ups and downs in your life. John Hubbard has some words worth reading and pondering, when he said, “Circumstances do not make a man; they reveal him.” Stop! Let that sink in! Truer words were never spoken. You show your real self, when your back is against the wall. It is not so much the fact that your back is against the wall, but how you respond to it.
Paul is ministering in one place but wanted to let his friends in another place know how he was doing. He knew their concern for him and wanted to comfort and console them. He penned these words in Ephesians 6:21-22, “But that you may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts.” Yes, Paul’s friends knew the fiery darts Satan was throwing Paul’s way, and they were concerned. Paul is telling them that Christ was faithful and everything is going along just fine.
Just as Paul’s circumstances were going well, so yours can be also. Let Jesus be your strength during those difficult circumstance, and then you will be tried and proven 24 karat gold in God’s eyes.
