Your Daily Goal

You wake up every morning and have at least a few things that you want to accomplish.  If it is a work day, you know certain things that your work will require of you during your time there.  If it is a weekend or holiday, you have some things you want to do that day; it may just be to relax.

Turning your attention to your spiritual life, what do you want to do daily?  A summary of your daily spiritual goals can be summed up by what Robert Murray McCheyne says: “It’s not great talent whom God blesses so much as likeness to Jesus.”  Your IQ is not as important as your Christ-likeness.  Do not focus on the talents you do not have.  Focus on every day being more like Jesus.

Paul had this idea in mind, when he wrote a letter to his protégé, Timothy.  The words Paul wrote are also directed to you and me – “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity show yourself an example of those who believe” (1 Timothy 4:12).  You are to be an example to those who are around you.

Make your daily goal to be an example to those you come into contact with on a daily basis.  You are to live a life that speaks for itself.  Yes, you are to witness verbally to those that God puts into your path.  But, also, to live a life that shouts a separateness to Jesus.  Live so that others will see and know you are a Christian, strictly upon the way that you live your life.

Having a primary daily goal of being like Jesus will order your whole day to bring glory to God.  That is well-pleasing to God.  Start today to make your daily goal to be Christ-like.  Now, there really is no better way to live your life.
