Ho Ho Ho

Yes, can you believe it?  Tomorrow is Christmas Day.  You have waited and waited all this year to celebrate Christmas.  There is no other time of the year that people are so full of joy and happiness.  That includes unbelievers, as well.  Everyone is all about helping the helpless, feeding the hungry, giving Christmas gifts to the under privileged.  It is a joyous time indeed!

For all of humanity, Christmas is a time to give gifts and spread joy.  It is especially true of the Christian.  C. S. Lewis was a Christian writer and pastor of the twentieth century.  His books are spot on theologically and stimulating to the mind.  Yes, he was a profound thinker and writer.  When describing Christmas, he had this to say, “The Son of God became the Son of Man so that the sons of men may become sons of God.”  Stop!  Read that again, slowing and thoughtfully.  That sums up the virgin birth of the Messiah, that we celebrate as Christmas.  God incarnate taking human flesh and bone.

There is much to be said of all the events leading up to and culminating in the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords.  Perhaps, one of the most profound is found in 2 Corinthians 9:15, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”  Yes!  Not thanks.  But thanks, and thanks, and a million times thanks!  The whole world changed with the birth of the baby Jesus.

Yes, I say, “Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!”  Peace on earth and good will to men.  The birth of the King is here, and we celebrate His birth.”  There will be good food to eat, and presents to share.  All this is done as a memorial to the birth of Jesus; even the gifts that the wise men brought Jesus. It is the basis for us sharing gifts with one another.  So, have a – Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!
