Seizing The Opportunity

You have an opportunity set before you.  It may well be something positive that you have looked forward to doing.  It may be an answer to prayer.  It could be something material or immaterial, but the fact lies in that it is a step forward for you.

Or, just maybe there is some monumental hurdle that you have to overcome.  Instead of having some positive opportunity, you have a huge obstacle to overcome.  The wise words of a pastor, teacher, and author, Chuck Swindoll, may ring true in your life: “We are faced with great opportunities, brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.”  You may be in that “impossible situation” right now.  If you are not in it now, be prepared; you may find yourself there, just around the corner.  Do not view “impossible situations” as something you encounter at the end of the road.  Those events are exactly where the Lord God wants you to be.  It is there that God shows His power in accomplishing what you in your flesh cannot do.

The Scriptures confirm that philosophy.  In discussing the believer’s actions, the Word of God says, “So then, while we have opportunity…” (Galatians 6:10).  Yes, I know the verse is specifically referring to the way believers should treat one another.  But the biblical principle is that, as a need arises, you meet that need.

Your life is full of ups and downs.  During those positive periods of life, it is easy to keep your focus.  It is during the times of testing and trial that you lose focus.  Keep Pastor Chuck Swindoll’s words at heart; the difficult times in your life are just disguised opportunities.

Thus, whether life brings good times or hardships, know that God wants you to view them as an opportunity for Him to work.  That’s what is meant by seizing the opportunity!
