You do not have to travel long on earth, until you realize that every day of your life is not lived on the mountain top. There are days, when you do not feel your best, to say the least. You look up and see the bottom of the barrel.
Those days come and go, but there will be a day when all of those days end. That day is when you experience death. Everyone on earth will one day die. It is as sure as the air you breathe or that the sun will rise and set. Try, as you may, not to think about it, does not diminish, in any way, its reality.
Doctors often have to deal with death. In a short story of death, in Seng Fellowship News, a doctor deals with death: “You say you want the death certificate changed, doctor?” asked the puzzled clerk. “It’s quite against the rules, you know.” “I know that, but it’s important,” said the physician. “You see, I was in a hurry and didn’t pay any attention to the space marked ‘Cause of Death,’ and that’s where I signed my name.” Ha! Ha! That is a humorous story, but death should be taken seriously.
If you are a Christian, death should be looked upon with optimism. Because the Christian will be in heaven, immediately following earthly death. What awaits the believer in heaven is partly expressed is Isaiah 25:8, “He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.”
The person who has not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior will not enter heaven. If you are not a Christian, ask Jesus to come into your life today and save you from your sins, so you can enter heaven.
Yes, a day is coming, when the darkness of death, becomes reality. With great anticipation, that will be a wonderful day!
