We need to make those certain decisions in our lives that impact our future. Some are small decisions, but others will change the direction of our entire future. Finding wisdom and direction at such pivotal points in our life is essential. Where do we turn at such momentous moments?
Guidance throughout our lives depends a lot on where we seek for such direction to follow. Even more important, is what we put into practice in making those decisions. Barbara G. Ryberg has some insightful comments as we seek guidance in our lives: “He does not lead me year by year, nor even day by day. But step by step my path unfolds; My Lord directs my way. Tomorrow’s plans I do not know, I only know this minute; But He will only say, ‘This is the way, by faith now walk ye in it.’” And I am glad that it is so: today’s enough to bear; and when tomorrow comes, His grace shall far exceed its care. What need to worry then or fret? The God who gave His Son holds all my moments in His hand, and gives them, one by one.” We need to depend upon the Lord to lead us each and every moment of the day.
David started his life as a shepherd and ended his life as the king of Israel. What is impressive is that his walk with God stayed consistent throughout his whole life. From when we are introduced to him until his death, his daily dependency upon God never wavered. No wonder God called him a man after God’s own heart. David gives us a glimpse into his secret of godliness in Psalm 23: 3, “He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” David sought the Lord God daily for God to guide him.
There seems to be a thread of wisdom flowing through this blog. It is that in order to avoid winding up at the end of the street in our lives, we need to daily follow God’s guidance. Today is a great day start doing that!
