How to Accomplish Great Things

You want your life to accomplish something.  In fact, you want to accomplish something significant during your earthly pilgrimage.  This thought motivates you to get out of bed in the morning and go about your daily activities.  That desire makes living on earth enjoyable.

Yes, your thought of doing something significant leads you to ask the question, “How to I accomplish something big in my life?”  J. Hudson Taylor was a missionary to China, where God used him to accomplish very much for the kingdom of God.  In regards to one’s accomplishments, he said this: “All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God, because they reckoned on God’s being with them.”  To start any venture, you need to know that God will be with you.  Also, act on the fact that the Lord of heaven will empower you to accomplish that task.

The apostle Paul accomplished much during his earthly pilgrimage.  He wrote more books of the New Testament than any other person.  His missionary endeavors marked another Christian distinctive; he started more churches than anyone else.  Along with starting new churches, he made sure each church had the leadership it needed to stand against Satan.  During his letter to the Philippian Christians, he told them this, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (4:13).  Paul tells you and me that the only way to do much for the kingdom of God is through the strength you get from Jesus Christ.  Notice, there is nothing so great that God will not give you the empowerment to succeed in it.  The verse says, “I can do all things.”  Let those words sink in a minute.  “All” means exactly what it says, all.  There is absolutely nothing where Jesus will not give you the ability to accomplish it.

To accomplish great things for God comes with a clear directive from Him.  First, realize you are weak and can accomplish nothing on your own abilities.  Second, realize that only God is going to be able to accomplish the desire He has put into your mind.  Lastly, claim Phil. 4:13 where it tells all believers that anything you can conceive in your mind you can achieve in your life through God’s power.  Start today perfecting that desire you have for the kingdom of God.
