True Faith

When you talk to many people they will tell you that they are a Christian; this may even apply to you, as well.  You attend church on a regular basis.  You even come from a Christian home.  You consider yourself a Christian, because you live in the United States, supposedly a Christian nation.

You pick and choose which parts of the Bible you believe and thus follow.  Some parts of the Bible you say are not relative to daily living in today’s culture.  The words of G. K. Chesterton ring true for you: “It isn’t that Christianity has been tried and found wanting.  It is that it has been found difficult and so never really tried.”  You find certain verses of Scripture difficult, because they run difficult to your belief system or the culture in which you live.  The result is that you pick and choose what parts of the Bible you believe and obey in daily practice.

Colossians 1:10 gives some sound teaching on this topic: “so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all aspects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”  Jesus wants you to live your life is such a way as “to please Him in all aspects” of your life.  This means that every detail of daily living will be in accordance with the Bible.  You are not to choose to obey some aspects of the Bible, and not others.  You do this by “increasing in the knowledge of God,” not for information’s sake, but to put the Scriptures into daily practice- “bearing fruit in every good work.”

When the Holy Bible commands you to live by faith, it is saying that you are to live every area of your life to be in alignment with the Scriptures.  When you do that, you are putting true faith into practice in your daily life.  There is no time like the present for you to start living by true faith in Christ.  Let Him have complete control of your life today!
