The End

To consider the end means different things to different people.  You may think of an end to an illness you have, or an end to your schooling, or the end of a working career.  When you think of an end to something, there is a beginning of something else.  So, to enter something new usually requires you to put an end to something else.

In days past, A. C. Gaebelein, was a pastor and scholarly Bible student.  One day he saw a combined tailor’s shop and dying establishment.  In the window was this sign: I Live to Dye; I Dye to Live; The More I Dye the Better I Live; The More I Live the Better I Dye.  There is a great spiritual truth in the sound of these words, and in their writing too, if the spelling d-y-e is changed to d-i-e.  These words are so meaningful, when the dying you do is to die to self and live to serve Christ.

Jesus taught believers to not fear death.  He taught Christians to believe in life after death.  This is taught when Jesus was talking to Martha after the death of her brother, Lazarus.  Of course, Martha believed that Jesus could have kept her brother from dying.  Now, that he is dead, she expressed her remorse by Jesus not being there to heal her brother.  Jesus replies to her in John 11:25, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in Me will live even if he dies.’”  Jesus is saying that death is a mere gateway to a better place; it is a place and life will continue.

Yes, an end to something must happen prior to the beginning of something else.  To enter into eternal bliss in heaven, begins with an ending to life here on earth.  That ending of life on earth is to die.  So, take heart and look forward to dying on earth, as it opens for you eternity in heaven.
