Being Like a Lion

So often the Lord takes someone who is naturally timid and turns them into a person of boldness.  This may apply to you.  As a youth you were shy and not interested in upsetting the apple cart.  You accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, and He began changing your personality.  You became one who was ready to speak out for the Lord, and being a verbal witness for Christ became of utmost importance to you.

In the Westminster Abby a monument to Lord Lawrence has inscribed on it his name, his date of death, and these words: “He feared man so little because he feared God so much.”  To have a healthy fear of the Almighty is a rare commodity these days.  Much is talked about God being your Father or Daddy and that He is love.  Those are all great attributes of God.  However, fearing the judgment of God is so often overlooked.

The apostle Paul knew that he needed a Godly fire within himself to effectively preach the Word of God.  That fire he wanted to come from God, Himself.  He relates to you that desire in Ephesians 6:19: “and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.”  Paul wanted to preach the Word of God, but not only to preach, but to preach it with boldness.  Consider that communication of the Gospel the next time you share with someone the way of salvation or when you teach the Scriptures.

A lion is known for its boldness or courage.  So, be like a lion and live your Christian life with boldness.  Notice, that the way to have that boldness is not through you getting boldness in your own strength.  Be like Paul and get that boldness as you prepare ahead of time in the throne room of grace in prayer.
